The Local Food Council is an innovative initiative of the City of Thessaloniki, which aims to liaise the long food history, active business activity, the prominent touristic sector with resilient, climate neutrality and sustainability. Thessaloniki's Food Policy Council works on thematic axes chosen by a participatory process with the aid of local stakeholders and academia. The axes are the following:

• Food production and distribution
• Education/ nutrition/ obesity
• Food waste and circular economy
• Gastronomy

During the workshop, the participants will co-shape policy proposals, which will form the basis for the Nutrition Policy of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
The workshop takes place in the context of the Horizon 2020 funded "Food Trails" project implemented by the Municipality as a member of the UNESCO creative cities network highlighting the promotion of a healthy way of living with free and equal access to food.
