Τhe 2nd Thessaloniki Design Week under the main theme of  INNOVATION IN DESIGN . All aspects of the event focus on the innovation, ingenuity and experience of young creators, aiming to redefine and develop every aspect of our lives, from economy and production to the environment and health, through the design of – large and small scale – products and services.

We invite individual designers, groups or companies from all areas of design to submit their proposals and projects, regarding digital or tangible products, services and applications that match the INNOVATION IN DESIGN requirement and fall under the individual thematic sections.

the Public Space

In the context of the rapid and successive changes of the era, there is a necessity to redefine the existing means, tools and services, in order to upgrade and ensure the sustainability of our environment. Urban and public spaces are in need of innovative solutions in order to meet new challenges and achieve smooth operation and accessibility for all.

With a broader focus on “Smart Cities“, new possibilities are given to address these issues through advanced digital technologies, from large-scale design and architecture, to urban green spaces and equipment ιn the modern city.

Creating in
our Personal Space

The constant change in living conditions leads to reshaping the existing life model, personal choices and means, in order to meet the modern demands of well-being in our era.

The use of innovative solutions and practices and the advent of new experiences optimize everyday conditions in our personal space and develop new opportunities for personal expression, communication, education, entertainment, usability and functionality. Digital skills and online possibilities are expanding the personal space, giving other dimensions to interpersonal relationships, featuring however a number of unpredictable aspects.


Proposals Submission

Applications should be submitted until  June 30, 2021 at 23:00 , using the form below, and should include:

  • The applicant’s profile, including full contact information, and short curriculum vitae (max. one page)
  • The title of the project and its description in Greek or English
  • Photos of the project in HD and designs in 2D/3D with dimensions
  • Any previous exhibitions of the project and installation requirements.

Proposals may include advanced technologies (AI, VR, AR, MR, 3D printing, nanotechnology, robotics), applications for cultural promotion and accessibility, communication, education, marketing, entertainment, economy/health services programs, “green” management, innovative solutions in urban design, “smart” materials, versatile objects, etc.

The proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the general theme and the individual thematic sections of the 2nd ThessDW
  • Innovation, functional value and aesthetic quality.

In the context of Thessaloniki Design Week, the 3 best projects from each thematic section will receive awards worth 1,000€, 700€ and 500€ respectively, while the possibility of implementing some of them will be explored.

All applications will be examined by an evaluation committee of design representatives, distinguished in the fields of architecture, digital technologies, product and graphic design, which consists of:

  • Koumparos Apostolos, Electrical Engineer, Masters in Engineering Management Design Consultant in areas of Architecture, Interior Spaces, Graphic & Experience Projects
  • Kosmidis Minas, Architect


 Candidates’ participation in both Thessaloniki Design Week’s venues and events is free of charge. However, candidates will have to cover their project’s cost, as well as their personal expenses, in case they wish to attend in person.

Poster Contest

Thessaloniki Design Week invites all interested parties to participate in the poster competition inspired by the main theme of the 2nd ThessDW INNOVATION IN DESIGN , to pair up with the logo of the organization in an imaginative way!

Participants are invited to visualize their thoughts, ideas and reflections on the theme of the competition in an original way.

Use the ThessDW logo and co-shape the visual identity of the event! The poster that will be selected will be printed and displayed in the city, while the creator will receive a cash prize of 1,000€!

T-Shirt Contest

Do you love Graphic Design and seek ways to express your creativity? Do you have ideas that you want to see implemented and spread around you? Do you want to leave your mark on an institution that innovates in design?

Join the contest to design the T-shirt that will be printed for the 2nd Thessaloniki Design Week! We are looking for an original concept inspired by the main theme of the 2nd ThessDW  INNOVATION IN DESIGN , to pair up with the logo of the organization in an imaginative way!

The selected proposal will be the souvenir t-shirt of the event, while the designer will receive a cash prize of 1,000€.

Proposals should be submitted until July 11, 2021.
